WHAT IS TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE?

Triamcinolone Acetonide is an intermediate acting corticosteroid with a very insignificant mineralocorticoid or sodium retaining activity. It’s efficacy and safety make it a widely used corticosteroid in most countries. As a topical application, it is indicated in the treatment of the inflammatory, allergic & pruritic manifestations of steroid-responsive dermatoses.

HOW TO USE TRICORT SCALP LOTION 0.1%

  • \Twice a day application for two weeks is indicated for most dermatoses. Considering that the scalp area is only a very small fraction of the entire body surface, the use of a scalp lotion is generally safe.
  • \Although primarily intended for scalp application, there is nothing in Tricort Scalp Lotion to prevent its use in areas outside the scalp. It is also recommended for extensive dermatoses like exfoliative dermatitis, generalized eczemas, Leiner’s disease, atopic dermatisis, psoriasis, etc. because of its efficacy and easy application.

Reminder

Just like the other corticosteroid preparations, widespread and prolonged use should be supervised by a physician due to the possible side effects like secondary infection, acne, degenerative changes like skin atrophy, telangiectasia, striae and systemic complications. Use of corticosteroids is contraindicated in skin infections.
